Your Role as a File Clerk
As a file clerk, you will be responsible for managing and organizing important legal documents. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will ensure that our files are accurate, complete, and easily accessible. You will work closely with attorneys and paralegals to support their needs and contribute to the overall efficiency of our firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the filing system, ensuring that all documents are appropriately categorized and filed in accordance with firm policies.
- Assist in the preparation and organization of case files, including discovery documents and legal correspondence.
- Perform routine audits of files to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
- Manage the retrieval and distribution of documents as requested by attorneys and other staff members.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information at all times.
- Assist with any other administrative tasks as required by the legal team.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in legal studies or administration is a plus.
- Previous experience in a similar role or a law firm is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience using document management systems.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with excellent communication skills.
